Vauchul’s murder suspect is arrested in North Carolina while driving the missing Lyft driver’s car.

VOUCHULA, Florida. A murder suspect from Vochula, Florida was arrested in North Carolina while driving the car of a missing Lyft driver.

Matthew Scott Flores is charged with second-degree murder for the murder of Jose Carlos Martinez in Hardy County.

He was taken into custody and hospitalized in Rutherford County, North Carolina after a police chase ended in an accident.

At the time of his arrest, Flores was driving a Florida Lyft driver who went missing earlier this week.

The Vochula Police Department is in close contact with law enforcement officials from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
