Vandal jumped out of SUV to damage New York synagogue on suspicion of hate crime

Over the weekend, a vandal jumped out of an SUV and crashed through the vinyl fencing of a synagogue in connection with a suspected Staten Island hate crime, police said.

A photo released by police shows a creeper “damaging the fence” at the Thoras Emes Congregation Synagogue at the Staten Island Synagogue on Hylan Boulevard around 00:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.

The bully jumped out of the rear passenger seat of a white Honda SUV and “ran over a PVC fence,” police said. After he returned inside, the car moved south along the boulevard.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident.
