Two kidnapped Missouri children found in Florida supermarket

Two children have been missing for almost a year.

HIGH SPRINGS, Florida. Two abducted children missing from Missouri for nearly a year have been found at a grocery store in central Florida with their mother, not in custody, who was taken into police custody, authorities said.

Christy Gilli was arrested last Wednesday on an out-of-state escape warrant. Court records show Gilley, 36, remained in jail on Sunday.

High Springs cops found Gilly and two children at a Winn Dixie supermarket after a routine vehicle check that showed the car’s owner was a fugitive, the High Springs Police Department said in a statement. High Springs is located about 22 miles northwest of Gainesville, Florida.

Children have been missing from Clay County, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, since March last year.

The High Springs Police Department said the children were handed over to the Florida Department of Children and Families and reunited with family members in Missouri.

Gilley’s court-appointed attorney from the local public defender’s office did not respond to an emailed inquiry on Sunday.
