Two corrections officers arrested as part of ongoing domestic investigation

LEE COUNTY, Florida. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office announced today that two corrections officers have been fired and arrested for misconduct.

During a routine check at the direct observation unit at the Lee County Jail, the inmate was found to have injuries. The injuries sustained by the prisoner were first and second degree burns.

After authorities were alerted, an internal investigation revealed that the burns were caused by two corrections assistants Casey Howell and Enzo Finamor.

LEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

According to County Sheriff Lee Carmine Marceno, former deputies poured scalding hot water from a water cooler over inmates to force compliance. During the investigation, two more prisoners were found with the same injuries.

Both Howell and Finamor were arrested and charged with a misdemeanor and misdemeanor.

Medical personnel rendered assistance to the victims on the spot, they are receiving medical assistance.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is taking action to remedy the situation. At the moment, hot water coolers have been removed from the direct observation wing. They have added a supervisor to the division and are looking for ways to improve their teaching methods.

The Howell bond is set at $16,500 and the Finamore bond is set at $6,500.
