Trump prepares to ditch Truth Social to return to Twitter and Facebook: report

Former President Donald Trump is preparing to cut his exclusive relationship with his own social media platform, Truth Social, as part of a possible return to mainstream sites like Twitter and Facebook, according to the report.

Trump, who is preparing to campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, has told confidants that he looks forward to the expiration of the “social media exclusivity period” with Truth Social, an app founded by his company Trump Media & Technology Group. (TMTG).

According to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the exclusivity term requires Trump to “first direct all social media communications without exception” to his Truth Social account six hours before posting the same content on other platforms.

However, the exclusivity agreement excludes publications whose content is “specifically related to political messages, political fundraising, or vote-getting efforts.”

But Trump has been telling those close to him for months that he has no desire to renew the exclusivity clause after it expires in June, Rolling Stone reports.

Another partner told Rolling Stone, “He said there was an expiration date and that he didn’t want to commit.”

Under the terms of the exclusive contract, Trump must give notice to avoid an automatic six-month clause extension.

According to the statement, even if the exclusivity contract expires, Trump will still be “obliged to post at the same time as Truth Social.”

Publicly, Trump has said he is sticking to Truth Social — despite the fact that new Twitter boss Elon Musk lifted a ban on the former president that was put in place after the January 6, 2021, US Capitol riots. .
