Trenton Shootings Claim 2 More Lives, Homicide Count Now 17.

Mercer County Prosecutors Office has confirmed that two homicide victims from Trenton have recently passed away due to gunshot wounds, with Jared Anderson losing his life on May 29, 2023. Anderson, who was hospitalized at Capital Health Hospital on April 12, 2023, was involved in a shooting incident where multiple people were reported injured. The Trenton Police Department, Trenton EMS, Paramedics, and Trenton Fire Department all responded to the area of Spring and Calhoun Streets around 5:45 p.m. on April 12, 2023. Two victims were taken to the Trauma Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center, but unfortunately, Anderson could not recover from his injuries.

The death of Jared Anderson is being investigated by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force along with the Trenton Police Department, and the investigation is still ongoing. Along with Anderson, Louis Washington lost his life on June 21, 2023, as a result of injuries he suffered from being shot on June 15, 2023. The incident occurred at approximately 3:08 p.m., and the Trenton Police responded to a Shot Spotter activation for multiple rounds in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Trenton. Three victims were admitted to the hospital for treatment, and unfortunately, both Louis Washington and James Junior Journigan lost their lives.

The investigation into both deaths is being conducted by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department. The recent deaths have brought the total number of Trenton homicide victims in 2023 to seventeen. The Mercer County Prosecutors Office has released the names of all the victims, and the list as of June 23, 2023, includes names of people lost at different instances through various acts of violence.
