Three men arrested in North Carolina for tying up and torturing a victim in a basement

Three North Carolina suspects were arrested and charged Monday in connection with the alleged kidnapping and abuse of the victim.

Madison County Sheriff Buddy Harwood called the crime a “terrible incident.” He said the investigation was launched after a local resident reported that an unidentified person showed up at their home claiming to have been kidnapped.

The deputies arrived at the scene and found the victim with numerous lacerations on his face, body and hands. The deputies also noticed that several crosses were carved on the face and body of the victim. The victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Harwood said police searched the area and found the site of the alleged kidnapping. The sheriff’s office executed a search warrant and found that the suspects – Patrick Banks, James Angel and Nicole Sawyer – forcibly imprisoned the victim in the basement of the house, tying her hands and feet to a chair with barbed wire. The suspects also allegedly tied the victim’s chest to a load-bearing beam and sealed their mouths with duct tape.
