Thieves stole a trailer and supplies from a non-profit STEM program in Dallas.

Seeds 2 STEM provides mobile science lessons for schools in underserved communities. Thieves stole the band’s trailer and materials, compromising its programs.

DALLAS. A local scientist asks for the community’s help in identifying the thieves who stole a trailer and mobile STEM lab owned by his non-profit organization.

Branden Williams, also known as The Bearded Scientist, works for the nonprofit Seeds 2 STEM. The mission of the educational firm is to help children rethink the way they think about science. Seeds 2 STEM works with schools in underserved communities and takes a hands-on and innovative approach to helping students experience the science and space of STEM.

“We provide enrichment or after-school programming at a handful of schools in the South Sector,” Williams explained.

The organization faced a major setback. Williams said the Seeds 2 STEM trailer was stolen from a warehouse where it was parked on South Hampton Road in Dallas.

“Everything we have was in this trailer. Down to our generator, every table we own,” Williams said.

The theft occurred on February 7 during recent ice storms. Williams said he learned that the vault gates were left open.

“All the supplies for the after school program were also there. And it completely destroyed everything we had, ”added Williams.

Now with just 11 weeks left of the program after school, the Seeds 2 STEM team is wondering what to do. Williams said he reported the theft to the Dallas Police Department.

Generous community members are donating materials to help Seeds 2 STEM temporarily continue to work with students.

For now, Williams is urging the community to keep an eye on the black 21-foot trailer, sending a strong message to thieves.

“They didn’t destroy God’s purpose for me. It’s a small setback, but it’s the foundation for success,” Williams said.
