The video shows the Texas legislator who filed a bill to ban drag shows dressed in a drag show.

The Republican MP reacted to the video, calling it “an attack on the leftist media” and a distraction.

TEXAS, USA – Editor’s note: The video posted above is a June 2022 WFAA report on another Texas legislator who called for a ban on drag shows after one in a Dallas bar went viral on social media.

North Texas legislator who author of a bill restricting drag speeches seems to have worn clothes himself when he was a student.

The video was posted this week on Twitter by Democratic activist Michelle Davis. claims to show Texas State Representative Nate Schatzline (R-Fort Worth) jumping, running and dancing in a park wearing a sequined black dress and red eye mask.

“Nate Schatzline attacked the LGBT community, transgender people, especially children, with his whole personality, and promised to ban drag shows in Texas.” Davis wrote. “Here’s Nate… in clothes.”

As of March 4, the video has been viewed nearly 65,000 times.

The Republican MP responded to the video, effectively confirming that the person in the video is indeed him. He further called the video a distraction.

“Are you really crazy about me wearing a dress as a joke back in school for a theater project? Yeah, this is not an overtly sexy drag show…lol you will all be spinning ANYTHING,” Schatzline tweeted. “Michelle, please find something better than watching old videos when people were in school.”

March 1 tweet Schatzline posted a video saying that “the leftist media has done exactly what they are doing, which is to turn stories into something they are not”.

He went on say in video that his bill, HB 1266, seeks to ban “sexually explicit drag shows.”

The text of HB 1266 states that the bill seeks to amend the Texas Code of Conduct for Business and Commerce to define a location where “dragging” is conducted and “allowing alcoholic beverages to be consumed on site” as a “sexually oriented business.”

According to the state code, such places “may not allow persons under the age of 18 to enter the premises of the enterprise.”

The bill went to the House State Committee on Friday, days after a video emerged showing Schatzline in a dress.

Disputes between Democratic groups and Schatzline continue to exacerbate the drag show debate. Fort Worth Republican commented again on Friday afternoonresponding to a Texas Democrats tweet.

The Texas Tribune noted that “so far, no bill defines what types of clothing or makeup legislators consider indicative of which gender.” Lawmakers also failed to explain why clothing or makeup makes someone look sexy, reports the Texas Tribune.

Sen. Brian Hughes, R-Mineola, told the Tribune that “there could be some new language next week.”

Hayk Khajinazarian, a spokesman for the Texas Democrats who spoke to the Tribune, claims that GOP lawmakers are drawing attention to drag queens to piss off their base over what he calls “minor issues,” moreover, calling it “bait for clicks.

A heated debate in the Texas legislature began after Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed a similar law restricting drag shows in Tennessee on Friday.
