The Pentagon declares diversity a ‘strategic imperative’ on Twitter, then Elon Musk puts it in its place

Now it’s Elon Musk vs the Pentagon.

The mega-billionaire has taken on the task of privatizing space travel and revolutionizing electric vehicles.

And it was a direct hit.

Musk responded to a @DeptofDefense tweet Saturday morning in which the ministry lauded its commitment to awakening priorities and advancing its Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

“Diversity is a strategic imperative critical to readiness and mission accomplishment,” the statement said. “We attended the first @DoD_ODEI summit in 2023 as DEIA experts led the forums to advance the mission of DEIA and the Department of Defense because our people matter.”

This formulation is a perfect example of the government in the Biden administration and the military under the “leadership” of Biden administration Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and the Joint Chiefs of Staff led by General of the Army Mark Milley.

He babbles leftist buzzwords, mimicking military jargon (the “strategic imperative”) and displaying the traditional spirit of the American military.

It then ends with a plaintive line that sounds like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at her worst accusatory-defensive: “because our people matter.”

Apparently overlooked in the Department of Defense’s social media department is that no sane American has ever questioned whether or not military men “make a difference.”

The real question is what matters to the Department of Defense under President Joe Biden’s administration, which has so far been associated with the double humiliation of the ignominious withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan in 2021 and the equally nasty treatment of a Chinese spy balloon in 2023. .

In his Twitter response, Musk provided the answer—or what the answer should be:

“Your strategic imperative is to defend the United States,” he wrote.

This is a simple suggestion and to the point. This decisively put the leadership of the Department of Defense in its place – as a military organization that has the sole and deepest responsibility for protecting the physical security of Americans. And it had the advantage of ringing true.

It may come as a surprise to the wild left of American politicians who currently control the Democratic Party that the military does not exist to run taxpayer-funded operations against men who want to be women. This is not some spectacularly large affirmative action program whose function is to propel members to power based on their skin color.

Many Americans can be forgiven for not understanding that during the Biden presidency, when, as the Washington Examiner reported in March 2021, one of Biden’s first executive orders allowed service members and veterans to undergo “sex reassignment” surgery.

They could be forgiven for forgetting this at a time when leading names in the military seem determined to prove that American society is simply riddled with racism and other sins of the soul (not to mention contributing to “climate change” ).

As former President Donald Trump understood, the military exists to protect the country from foreign threats and use its power to advance American interests around the world.

He does not exist to promote the leftist fantasies of an increasingly leftist fabulist in the Oval Office.

And the replies to Musk’s tweets showed that many others understand this too.

The real catch here is that the military is one of the main institutions of American life – it was officially desegregated in 1948 by then President Harry Truman (the last worthy Democrat to hold that position).

And while it’s certainly not without racial tension – no place on earth that has people – this is an organization that should value merit, not extraneous qualities. The thought of death at the hands of an enemy or friend concentrates the mind.

But for progressive dominance era liberals, everything must bow to the gods of diversity, justice, and inclusion.

This includes the US military, which under the current president has been disgraced abroad and at home by its civilian leadership in the White House and its uniformed leadership in the Pentagon.

He needs an Elon Musk-style vision to get his priorities right and return to his place of honor in American life.
