Judd said the shooting was being investigated by the “Officer Film Team”.

Brian Haas, State Attorney for the 10th Judicial District, covering Polk, Highlands and Hardy Counties, said the team that will investigate the shooting is comprised of officers from those jurisdictions.

“We want the investigation to be transparent but effective, and we want the public to get all the answers they are entitled to at the end. These will be representatives from Hardy County, Highlands County, and various Polk County agencies,” Hass said.

Lakeland Police Chief Sam Taylor also spoke about the shooting that took place in his city’s jurisdiction last week.

“We are very confident that he is in fact involved – to what extent we don’t know yet. We’re still working on it,” Taylor said. “We were just trying to arrest him on a warrant in hopes of getting an interview with him regarding the shooting we had here in Lakeland last week and it turned into the pandemonium and mayhem you see here.”

Judd said Green had 10 previous felony charges, including running away to elude law enforcement, battery of a law enforcement officer, possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, and an outstanding burglary warrant.

“But look, only the evil ones run away when the police try to stop you, and that’s what happened here. If he hadn’t just run away from us, hadn’t run away, none of this would have happened,” Judd said.
