The Golden Globes return Tuesday for their year-long audition

Frazier said in 2018 that he was groped in 2003 by longtime Hollywood Foreign Press Association member Philip Burke. Burke, who is no longer a member of the HFPA, denied this.

On Tuesday, eyes will be particularly drawn to Tom Cruise, whose Top Gun: Maverick is nominated for Best Picture, Drama. Cruz reacted to the HFPA revelations more forcefully than anyone in the industry, returning his three Golden Globe Awards.

But all the studios are participating in the Globes again.

As is the case with most award ceremonies, viewership for the Globes telecast has plummeted. After the 2020 award was watched by 18.4 million people, the 2021 edition drew just 6.9 million people, according to Nielsen. However, the Globes remain a valuable marketing tool for award contenders, bolstering film promotion between the holidays and the Oscars, which airs March 12. Fields’ “Tar” struggled to attract a large audience.

Martin McDonagh’s tale of the feuding friends of The Banshee of Inisherin leads the way in eight nominations, including actors Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s existential comedy All, Everywhere, All at Once won six awards, including Michelle Yeoh, Ke Hai Kuan, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

In terms of television, the public school sitcom Abbott Elementary leads the way with five nominations, including a nod for the lead role of Quinta Brunson. White Lotus, Dahmer, The Crown, Pam & Tommy, and Only Murders in the Building received four nominations each.

Other nominees include Brad Pitt (Babylon), Viola Davis (The Woman King), Daniel Craig (Glass Bow: The Secret to Get Knives), Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Julia Roberts. (Gaslit), Donald Glover (Atlanta), Bill Hader (Barry), Selena Gomez (Only Murders in the Building), Kevin Costner (Yellowstone), Diego Luna (Andor) and Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”).
