The clouded leopard at the Dallas Zoo returned to its habitat on Saturday

Animal care and conservation executive vice president Harrison Edell said Nova was reintroduced to her sister and returned to habitat on Saturday morning when the zoo reopened to visitors.

“Nova looks great. As we predicted earlier, she did not go far. She’s just really good at hiding,” Edell said.

Edell added that employees first saw Nova Friday after an angry squirrel drew their attention to where she was hiding.

He said the grid had been repaired, but long-term changes to prevent this from happening again would be discussed next week.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Police Department continues to investigate who may have damaged Nova’s enclosure, saying it was intentionally cut open, not torn apart by the animal.

The second animal enclosure that houses langurs, a breed of monkeys, over the weekend, they were also found to have been intentionally damaged and tampered with. None of the langurs left their enclosure.
