The Babylon Bee Returns to Twitter Following Ban: ‘We’re Back’

The Babylon Bee has made its way back to Twitter after the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, restored the account.

“We’re back. Let that sink in,” The Babylon Bee’s tweet stated.

The announcement was celebrated by several Twitter users.

One user replied, “It’s christmas day for comedy fans.”

Musk also took to Twitter to reveal the other accounts he has restored.

“New Twitter policy is freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach. Negative/hate tweets will be max deboosted and demonetized, so no ads or other revenue to Twitter. You won’t find the tweet unless you specifically seek it out, which is no different from rest of Internet,” Musk tweeted.

He added, “Kathie Griffin, Jorden Peterson and Babylon Bee have been reinstated. Trump decision has not yet been made.”

In March, the platform suspended The Babylon Bee’s account after a tweet misgendered U.S. Assistant Health Secretary Rachel Levine.

The tweet that led to the move stated, “The Babylon Bee’s Man Of The Year is Rachel Levine.”

Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon explained they would not remove the tweet to get back onto the platform.

“They could, of course, delete the tweet themselves. But they won’t. It’s not enough for them to just wipe it out. They want us to bend the knee and admit that we engaged in hateful conduct,” Dillon tweeted at the time.

The tweet came after USA Today declared Levine one of the outlet’s “Women of the Year.”

Musk’s move to restore the accounts comes after employees at the company were told they temporarily would not have access to the company’s buildings after he issued a warning about committing to his vision of the company, as IJR reported.
