That ’90s Show star Debra Jo Rupp talks about reprising her role in beloved sitcom reboot

If you’re craving more Ashton Kutcher ahead of the release of his new romantic comedy, getting a fix has never been easier. Part of Ashton in the reboot of That ’70s Show, where a new generation of slackers sits in the basement. Alex Miranda is here to talk more about this reboot call.

Now Red and Kitty have become grandparents and Debra Jo Rupp sat down to tell Deco what it was like to be back on set and be part of the 90s.

Debra Jo Rupp (as Kitty Foreman): “I take fritos, doritos, tostito and all the rest. I’m back baby!”

Seventeen years later…

Debra Jo Rupp (as Kitty Foreman): “Okay, kids, the basement is all yours.”

Some things never change.

Debra Jo Rupp: “The layout of the set is the same. The decorations are different, but the layout is the same; the basement is the same, except that the furniture for the living room was taken from the “70s” and put in the basement.

Now a new generation of kids are occupying the Forman’s basement.

Debra Jo Rupp: “Life in Point Place, Wisconsin goes on. It’s still the same city, it’s still the same characters; there are some new characters.”

One new character is Leia, Eric and Donna’s teenage daughter.

Debra Jo Rupp: “In this film, Leia meets new friends, so it’s new people who are introduced, which makes things a bit easier, but she’s still part of the family and part of the city.”

The family wouldn’t be complete without Red Foreman, played by Kurtwood Smith.

Kurtwood Smith (as Red Foreman): “Well, I did my part. I took care of the gift: $20!”

Debra Jo Rupp (as Kitty Foreman): “You did one thing! You’re lucky!”

Debra Jo Rupp: “The best thing is to work with Kurtwood Smith again. Without a doubt, that’s all.”

Of course, the OG kids are back and have connections with the new kids.

Debra Jo Rupp: “We call them the legacy cast. You saw how they extended to Ashton, Mila and everyone who entered the living room door.

Debra Jo Rupp (as Kitty Foreman): “I love it when the house is full again, it just fills me with joy.”

Laura Prepon (as Donna Princiotti): “Eric is having a hard time with Leia.”

Topher Grace (as Eric Foreman): “All I know is that I will love her and support her.”

As for Debra’s hopes for a new series…

Debra Jo Rupp: “Someone told me last week that That ’70s Show was kind of a consolation for them growing up, so I’m hoping that ’90s Show will be a continuation of that.”

Curtwood Smith (as Red Foreman): “Why did you reopen our house to chaos? All the fools are gone!”

That ’90s Show premieres on Netflix on Thursday, January 19th.
