Texas A&M Updates Fort Worth Research Campus Expansion Plan

Texas A&M has announced details of its new research campus in Fort Worth, nicknamed “Aggieland North” and what the campus will officially be called.

This eastern edge of the city center will soon look very different.

The current Texas A&M Law School building will disappear. And in its place will be a vast complex that will facilitate the city’s partnership with one of the largest university systems in the United States.

Texas A&M to build new research facility in Fort Worth

Thursday afternoon’s press conference was a gathering of federal, state and local leaders. They revealed new details about the Texas A&M Technology and Innovation District planned in downtown Fort Worth.

They shared images of a three-building complex that will span the four blocks that now house the university’s current law school. The complex will be called Texas A&M-Fort Worth.

The first construction of the legal and educational building is scheduled to start this summer and is expected to be completed in 2025.

“It’s one of those things that cities and universities don’t get to, often getting together and creating something that we believe will be special,” said Regent Robert Albritton. “Not just for students. It’s simple. This is for the industry. I believe we can bring businesses to the city of Fort Worth that call this city home.”

All of this means that Fort Worth will no longer be the largest city without a public research university.
