Teenagers are required to have a parent/guardian with them at the Hulen Mall in accordance with the new age policy.

On Saturday, the mall posted a message on Facebook stating that all under-17s must be supervised by parents during the day between 2 pm and 9 pm.

Fort Worth, Texas. Hulen Mall announced on Saturday that it will be implementing an age policy requiring those under the age of 17 to be under parental supervision from 2 pm to 9 pm.

The announcement was made on their social media page and the response from commentators was generally in favor of the decision.

“This must be done every day! There are so many kids walking around who don’t even go shopping,” one commenter said.

“Finally, maybe it will cut down on the amount of bullshit that goes on there,” said another.

On Saturday, January 28, from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm, we will enforce a mandatory parental control policy. Anyone aged 17 and under must be with a parent or adult guardian.

Other commenters on the Facebook thread supported the decision, citing security concerns at the mall.

On Christmas Eve 2022, the mall was closed after a 45-year-old man was accused of attempting to photograph or film a woman in a restroom and then pointing a gun at an intruder, according to police. At the end of December 2021, three people were arrested with weapons, although, according to police, there was no shooting inside or near the mall.

The WFAA contacted Hulen Mall, who said the mandatory parental control (PGR) policy is only in effect during the day and is in place for the safety of shoppers. Here is the full statement:

“Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our guests, tenants and everyone who visits the mall. We have a robust safety program that we constantly evaluate, and the implementation of PGR is just one example of this process. The PGR program is not permanent, it will only run from 2pm to 9pm today, Saturday, January 28th.”

Mall officials have informed the WFAA of this decision following a recent threat of violent, out-of-control youth in our mall, and they are working with the Fort Worth Police. The mall representatives said they are grateful to the FWPD for their partnership and support.
