Teen tracks down grandma who lost her wallet, sparking unlikely friendship

“If you do good, good will follow you,” says Delivonte Johnson. “There is no limit to the good you can do for this world.”

And after the 19-year-old spotted a lost wallet at a Walmart in Arkansas, he put those words into action.

Johnson said he was visiting the store on Jan. 12 to get money for a tire when he noticed a black wallet in a shopping cart.

“When I got back to the car, I opened my wallet and saw the driver’s license,” he told FOX. “When I found the name, I looked it up on Facebook to contact the owner.”

Johnson said the wallet belonged to 61-year-old Dee Harkrider. When Harkrider did not respond to his Facebook message, he reached out to another friend listed on her Facebook page.

In the meantime, he drove to the address indicated in the driver’s license.

Johnson eventually contacted Harkrider and they met at the same place.

“When I got there, she was surprised that I was a teenager, she thanked me and hugged me, and we both took pictures together,” added Johnson.

“I was very happy to get my wallet back and very grateful that he took the time to find me and give it back to me himself,” Harkreider told FOX.

“I’m 61 and he’s 19 and we’ve become friends,” she added.

Harkrider, a grandmother of seven, said she has been in contact with Johnson since they first met. She also met Johnson’s mother, grandmother, and some of his aunts. She even went to a baby shower for cousin Johnson.
