Teen accused of supplying fentanyl pills to Carrollton trafficker

DALLAS (CBSNewsTexas.com) — Flower Mound man arrested for supplying fentanyl to drug dealer linked to at least one juvenile overdose.

Authorities announced on Friday afternoon that 18-year-old Steven Paul Brinson was arrested on March 8. He was charged with conspiracy to distribute a Schedule II controlled substance.

Brinson accused of supplying fentanyl Donovan Andrewswho was arrested earlier this month. Law enforcement officials said he used the arrest of two other drug trafficking defendants to promote his own business.

Brinson was identified by federal law enforcement agents shortly after the arrest of Andrews and his underage driver. The driver, named “DC” in court documents, is a student at Hebron High School. Prosecutors allege that he worked as Andrews’ chauffeur in exchange for fentanyl pills.

While searching a D.C. phone, DEA agents allegedly uncovered messages that identified Brinson’s Instagram account as the source of the fentanyl pills.

Authorities raided Brinson’s home in Flower Mound, where they found his 19-year-old girlfriend, who was under the influence of fentanyl. She told agents that there were crushed pills next to the nightstand in the room she shared with Brinson. She also reported that there were two safes in the bedroom.

Carrollton police found several bags containing more than 1,000 counterfeit M30 pills. According to the press release, the field test came back positive for fentanyl. Agents also found scales covered in leftovers, small bags and a large amount of cash.

On a table at the foot of the stairs, they found a note from Brinson’s parents. The note described the duties they wanted Brinson to perform and also warned him “not to meet people in front of the house or in front of the house.” His father later told officials that he and his wife knew that Brinson used fentanyl, but claimed they were not aware that he was selling pills in front of the house.

Meanwhile, other law enforcement officials watched as Brinson loaded the bag into his car. They followed him to a nearby parking lot and arrested several people, including Brinson. Some of the people arrested in the parking lot cooperated and told police that Brinson often bought and sold drugs.

The police began to search the vehicle and found an FN 5.7 pistol and an AR-15 type rifle. Brinson allegedly had an M30 bag in his sock at the time of his arrest.

Brinson was taken to Carrollton City Jail for processing. There he started kicking the door of his cell and screaming. He later told agents and officers that being white and living in Flower Mound would help his cause.

If found guilty, Brinson faces up to 20 years in prison.
