Tanker truck fire, hazmat spill affected traffic on South Ring near South Main

KHOU 11 traffic expert Jennifer Reyna recommends that drivers leave Kirby Drive or Bellfort to avoid the area.

HOUSTON – A truck fire and hazmat spill Traffic is impacting 610 South Loop heading west near South Main on Friday morning, according to Houston Transtar.

According to Houston Transtar, it happened at 3:35 a.m. and involved another vehicle as well as a tanker truck carrying diesel fuel.

The closure also includes access road and westbound underpassin accordance with Houston Police.

The fire has been extinguished, but crews continue to clean up the spill. It’s not clear how long this will take.

No injuries were reported.
