After leaving MI6, Bond (played by David Niven) lives in luxury. However, his former employer M (John Huston) and other members of the global intelligence community pressure him to return to work after unexplained murders of operatives from several countries.

Bond discovers that a wealthy gambler named Le Chiffre (Orson Welles), who is actually one of the top operatives for the criminal organization known as SMERSH, is one of the targets of the investigation. Bond decides to use a large number of operatives to take on the James Bond moniker to mislead his opponents.

He hires Vesper Lind (Ursula Andress), an agent, to help him court Evelyn Tremble (Peter Sellers), the best baccarat player in the world. Tremble agrees to dress up as James Bond and take on Le Chiffre in a high-stakes game at the legendary Casino Royale, which is actually a SMERSH front.

Tremble wins the game, costing Le Chiffre a large portion of the money held by the criminal organization. As a result of this mistake, Le Chiffre dies. Tremble rushes to rescue Lind as she is being taken from the casino. He finds out too late that she is a double agent and she kills him.

Casino Royale Cast: David Niven

David Niven, whose full name is James David Graham Niven, was a British stage and film actor who was the epitome of stylish elegance. He was born in London, England on March 1, 1910 and died in Château d’Aix, Switzerland on July 29, 1983.

Niven, who grew up in a military family all his life, studied at the Military Academy in Sandhurst. Sometime in the 1930s, he came to Hollywood and started working as an extra. His first significant roles were in Wuthering Heights and Dawn Patrol in 1938 (1939). He quickly established a reputation as a consistent and reliable actor who usually specialized in light comedy.

Casino Royale Cast: Charles Boyer

Charles Boyer, French-American stage and film actor, best known for playing the stereotypical suave Gallic lover, was born in Figeac, Lot, France on August 28, 1899 and died in Phoenix, Arizona, in the United States. 26, 1978.
