December 18, 2023

In a recent incident, the Wall Township Police successfully apprehended a suspect who was found to have multiple active arrest warrants. The incident occurred on Saturday, December 16, 2023, following an investigation into a suspicious person at the Budget Inn Motel on State Highway 35.

At approximately 8:58 p.m. on Saturday, Patrolman Johan Moreno-Garcia and Sergeant Chris Mason were conducting an investigation when they encountered a male subject identified as William Segars, a 37-year-old resident of Neptune. However, instead of cooperating, Segars initiated a foot chase, prompting the officers to engage in a pursuit.

Fortunately, Segars was apprehended a short time later. Upon his capture, it was discovered that he had active arrest warrants from Tinton Falls, Eatontown, Neptune, and Ocean Township. Additionally, Segars was found to be in possession of a knife and heroin.

As a result of his actions, Segars now faces several charges, including resisting arrest, obstructing the administration of law, possession of heroin, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold.

It is important to note that despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. This presumption of innocence is a fundamental right guaranteed by both the United States Constitution and New Jersey State Law.

The Wall Township Police have once again demonstrated their commitment to maintaining public safety by swiftly apprehending individuals with active arrest warrants. Their dedication and professionalism play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of the community.
