Suffolk Sheriff’s Office Turkey Drive a Resounding Success

Suffolk County Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr., joined with Sheriff’s Office staff and local partners to distribute holiday meals for those in need at the 4th Annual Suffolk Sheriff’s Office Thanksgiving Food Distribution on November 22. Over 450 turkeys along with the trimmings (gravy, stuffing, sides) were given out at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office START Resource Center to residents at a drive-thru event.
“The holiday season is a time to give back and the Sheriff’s Office is proud to assist the community in any way possible. It is my sincere hope that these Thanksgiving meals will be a blessing to our neighbors in need. Thank you to all our partners who helped make this possible,” said Sheriff Toulon.
With the cost of groceries rising close to 13%, more and more Long Island families are turning to food banks. To combat the demand, families in need of holiday meal help were identified by the START Resource Center and their partner non-profit service agencies to guarantee that they can receive a free Thanksgiving meal without worry of a shortage. The items were donated by Suffolk Sheriff’s office partners including Long Island Cares, Caitlyn’s Vision, Compare Foods, United Way, EOC, Chubs Meats, Helping Makes You Happy, Salvation Army, Cross Country Mortgage, Axis Church, Harbor Church, Church on the Hill, Blessed Hope Church, Salvation Army, La Fiesta, Gino’s Pizzeria Ronkonkoma, Redefine Meals, Rudi’s Bar and Grill and Maximum Logistics.
