Student Environmental Conservation Association Seeks Intern in Multimedia/Environmental Education – Civic Environmental Coalition

The Student Conservation Association is looking for an Intern in Multimedia and Environmental Education

Houston Community Partnerships and Engagement Program (HCP&E) environmental education and multimedia internships include:

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Conduct environmental education programs and activities for youth aged K-12 living in the Ronald McDonald House or living in environmental justice communities in the Houston area.
-Assist in the development of educational programs and events on topics such as wildlife, migratory species, habitat, pollinators and nature in the Houston metropolitan area.
– Working with HCP&E staff to develop multimedia products (mainly video) for outreach purposes.
-Help and introduce Virtually Wild!Texas, a virtual out-of-the-field program to share nature with youth who may not be able to get outside. The current staff member will assist with computer and video technology, research and presentations, and camera presentations.
-Preparation of weekly social media posts as part of the HCP&E Communications Plan. Identify and develop potential social media stories to share through photos and videos.
– Gain hands-on experience working with shelter staff and partners in habitat restoration, biological monitoring, and outdoor recreation/visitor service programs in and around Houston.
-Participate in program related skills training and work together to develop program related skills and certifications.
-Support software materials and tools including vehicles, EE materials and more.
– Other responsibilities may be assigned during the duration of this internship as priorities and partnership opportunities arise to connect urban audiences with nature.

Living Wage: $250.00 per week
Travel due to relocation: $1,100 lump sum.
Commuter travel allowance: $40 per week.
Housing allowance: $1,120 per month.

This position qualifies for the AmeriCorps Education Award.
