State Senator Brian Jones introduces the “Hide the Predator” measure (SB 832) to stop the deployment of SVPs.

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – State Senator and Minority Leader Brian Jones, representing San Diego, introduced the California State Senate a “Hide the Predator” measure that would ban the placement of senior vice presidents in unsuspecting communities, requiring DSH approval.

SB 832 will:

  • Make the highest criteria for the placement of SVPs in terms of public safety
  • Require DSH to approve placements before signing leases
  • DSH’s obligation to report annually on each placement
  • Require DSH to report any potential placements
  • Prevent SVPs from being placed within 5 miles of Indian Country

Jones’s bill is bipartisan, but he still encourages KUSI viewers to visit www.sen.ca.gov/jones and sign the petition to show their support.

For years, Liberty Health Care has been dropping senior vice presidents into communities without alerting neighborhoods and schools.

Regarding the current proposed transfer of Senior Vice President Douglas Badger to Borrego Springs, a judge’s decision is expected shortly.

KUSI’s Rafer Weigel spoke with State Senator Brian Jones about his legislation and all the details of the Good Evening San Diego program.
