Southwest Airlines appoints new CTO after holiday crisis

Southwest Airlines from Dallas there is a new head of technology, Lauren Woodsin a move already planned before the company was criticized for holiday crash in decemberthe company said on Wednesday.

Woods is replacing senior vice president and chief information officer Kathleen Merrill, who decided to step down in December to become an executive advisor. Merrill has been with the company since 2017 and with the carrier since 2004.

CEO Bob Jordan previously introduced Woods as the new chief information officer, but the company has not formally announced a change in leadership.

“Lauren’s extensive experience has prepared her well for this important role as she has built a stellar reputation as a leader of innovation and change across our technology department and across the company,” Jordan said in a statement.
