Seattle high school teacher accused of having sex with 16-year-old student

On Thursday, a Seattle high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student was formally charged.

Court documents show that Pavares Patompornvivat, 32, has been charged with two counts of first-degree sexual harassment of a minor and one count of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

Patompornvivat, a science teacher at Franklin High School, was arrested last week after officers arrived to investigate a “child sex crime,” according to a probable cause statement obtained by Fox News Digital.

The officer spoke to a 16-year-old student who said she was involved in “a consensual sexual relationship with one of her teachers.” She claimed that their “intimate relationship” began on February 2, 2023.

The probable cause statement said the two had had sexual intercourse at least five times in the last two weeks.

Prosecutors said Patompornwivat and the student exchanged at least 3,000 texts, including messages of a sexual nature. When Patompornvivat learned the teen had reported sexual abuse, the teacher wanted her to call him to “clarify our stories,” according to court documents.

The teacher allegedly told the teenager that he had previously had a sexual relationship with another student. Prosecutors say they are investigating whether there were other victims.

Court documents say Patompornvivat posted bail and is not in custody. It was unclear whether he had hired a lawyer to act on his behalf.

The teacher was prohibited from contact with students, families and staff, and was prohibited from entering SPS school buildings or attending school-related activities.
