Search for Madalina Cojocari continues two months after her disappearance

On November 21, Madalina Cojocari was seen getting off the school bus. Madalina’s mother and stepfather claimed to have last seen her at the Cornelius home on November 23, but it wasn’t until December 15 – 22 days later – that her mother filed a missing person’s report.

In January, a grand jury separately indicted Diana Cojocari and Christopher Palmiter on suspicion of failing to notify the authorities of a child’s disappearance.

Caylee’s law is the law that the parents, according to the prosecution, violated.

The law was passed in response to the 2008 death in Florida of Casey Anthony’s two-year-old daughter, Kaylie. When a parent or guardian “knowingly or intentionally fails to notify law enforcement of a child’s disappearance”, it is a criminal offense under the law.

On January 6, the search for Madalina was extended into western North Carolina. Diana Cojocari, Madalina’s mother, was found in a remote area of Madison County, according to law enforcement. According to reports, Cojocari was met by an MP at the exit of US Highway 25 near Lawnese Mountain Road.

A few days later, newly released search warrants provided additional information about the items the detectives are looking for.

According to documents obtained by Channel 9, detectives ransacked Madalina Cojocari’s home on December 15, looking for any possible clues related to her disappearance. According to the affidavit, they took 11 other items from the house, as well as three iPhones.

Later, on December 21, there was a “9 channel” in the house, as the police took away even more goods.

Despite corrections to the warrants, it appears that on both dates, detectives removed about 40 pieces of evidence from the house.

The FBI, SBI, and the Cornelius Police Department are still looking for Madalina. Since Madalina disappeared, leaflets and billboards with her image have appeared in these units.
