Santa Cruz police handing out free gun locks

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) — Santa Cruz Police said it will offer free gun locks to all gun owners who want to purchase them.

You can pick them up at SCPD from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday at 155 Center Street. The police stated that no personal information is required to acquire it.

The police want to remind people that this is a free public service they provide.

“Because, as a firearm owner, it is your responsibility to ensure that the weapons in your home are stored where they are out of the reach of children or other unauthorized persons,” SCPD said. “Stolen firearms can end up in the hands of criminals who can use them to commit violent crimes.”
