Residential fire causes $60,000 in damage

At approximately 11:48 p.m. Monday, the Abilene Fire Department responded to a fire at a building located in the 2700 block of S 10th St.

Fire crews arrived to find the single-family home completely engulfed in flames. A defensive attack was made to protect other nearby residences. Firefighters managed to contain the original structure, which was completely lost.

Two occupants were in the home at the time of the fire. Passengers and their pets managed to safely leave the building.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The damage is estimated at 60 thousand dollars.
