Republican Gov. Chris Sununu Makes Bold Prediction About Trump’s Chances for 2024: ‘He Can’t Do It’

New Hampshire Republican Governor Chris Sununu says former President Donald Trump has no chance of defeating President Biden if he wins the 2024 Republican nomination.

Sununu made the comments during a Sunday appearance on ABC News’ This Week, hinting at his own aspirations to run for president. Sununu will join Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence and Nikki Haley as top contenders for the 2024 Republican ticket. Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is also a potential candidate, but has not announced his intentions to run.

“Unfortunately, in the end, the events of November 22 showed us that, right? Trump will be seen as a very radical candidate. The country will resist him,” Sununu said on Sunday.

“It’s impossible to do. He could get a nomination, but he can’t do it,” he added.

Sununu went on to suggest that he could enter the ring in 2024.

“Definitely thinking about it while having these conversations,” Sununu said in response to a related question. “But at the end of the day, there will be a lot of Republicans in this race. They are all really good people, they are really good candidates. You have Nikki Haley, Mike Pompeo and Governor DeSantis. and many people who are going to come in.”

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie appeared on the same program later Sunday morning and agreed with Sununu’s assessment, saying he didn’t think Trump could win.

More Republicans have become skeptical of Trump since the 2022 midterm elections, in which Trump-backed candidates lost close races across the country. Trump’s losses in the hotly contested Senate race have hurt Republicans in particular, costing the party control of the Senate.
