Report: Secret Documents Found at Mike Pence’s Indiana Home

Secret documents were discovered last week at the home of former Vice President Mike Pence in Carmel, Indiana, according to CNN.

It is not clear what classified information is contained in the documents.

Pence’s attorney notified the National Archives. The Department of Justice (DOJ) was subsequently notified by the National Archives. The FBI and the Justice Department launched an investigation into the documents and how they were brought to Indiana.

The former vice president’s home in Washington, D.C. was reportedly searched, but no classified documents were found.

CNN reported on the initial find in Indiana:

Pence’s lawyer told CNN that the FBI asked to seize classified documents that evening, and Pence agreed. According to the lawyer, agents of the local FBI office in Indianapolis took documents from Pence’s house.

On Monday, Pence’s legal team took the boxes back to Washington, D.C. and handed them over to the archives to check the rest of the material for compliance with the Presidential Records Act.

In a letter to the National Archives obtained by CNN, Pence’s archives spokesman Greg Jacob wrote that “a small number of classified documents” were inadvertently boxed and delivered to the vice president’s home.

The announcement of classified material in Pence’s possession comes as the President Joe Biden documents scandal continues to escalate and dominate the news cycle. On Friday, the Justice Department uncovered more classified material at Biden’s home in Wilmington. The department requested a search of the premises after Biden’s personal attorneys found about 25 documents.

Attorney General Merrick Garland, the nation’s top law enforcement officer, said on Monday his department did not apply double standards of justice to the Biden classified documents scandal after reportedly arranging with Biden’s personal lawyers to keep the scandal from the American people.

“At first, both Biden’s lawyers and the Justice Department investigators thought they had a common understanding of how to keep the case under wraps,” the report said. Washington After reported, noting the Biden administration’s attempt to cover up revelations of a second collection of hidden documents.

On January 9, the scandal was leaked to the press. Critics believe that if the scandal had not leaked, the American people would not have known about Biden’s wrongdoing. White House officials are reportedly suspicious that the Biden secret document scandal was leaked to the press after only a select group of White House and Justice Department officials knew of the breach.

It is not clear why Biden’s personal lawyers initially searched for his illegally hidden materials. The White House and the Justice Department were unable to provide an initial reason for the search.
