Report: NYC Student Who Allegedly Tossed 11-Year-Old Child Claims Racial Suspension

An Upstate New York ninth grade student who was arrested Wednesday for allegedly hitting a junior student reportedly suggested race was a factor in the school’s decision to suspend him.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows a ninth grader picking up and throwing a much smaller boy to the ground. The incident took place Monday at Ada Cosgrove High School in Ogden, New York, during a layoff, WHAM reported.

Thursday Andy Ngo reported in the Post Millennial that a student accused of assault believes race was a factor in his suspension, citing an unrelated event involving his brother as evidence:

The estranged teenager denies that race was a factor in the confrontation with the white boy. But he believes his own punishment by the Spencerport Central School District was racist. He tells TPM that he was suspended for the remainder of the school year, which he believes is racially motivated as he is black. “Last year my brother got into a fight and a lot of white people jump[ed] him, and not one of them was suspended or got into trouble.

In addition to being suspended, the student was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, Ogden Police Chief Travis Gray said. confirmed in a press release on Wednesday.

“What I would say to kids is that all their actions have consequences, and they need to think about what the consequences of their actions are.” – Grey. said BAM.

Parents and educators, shocked by this incident, spoke out about school violence.

It’s like your stomach is turning over”, WHEC quoted as a parent named Lisa Watson says. And it could be anyone’s child.

“I think the real issue is the lack of consequences,” Watson said, adding that teachers often have to do “more than they should” to address student behavioral problems, according to WHAM.

Spencerport Schools, Ada Cosgrove High School District, wrote in a statement, he “seeks to rely on [its] security efforts.”

Gray noted in his press release that the ninth grader was ordered to “appear late for Family Court.”
