Rep. Swalwell refers to Santos’ alleged performances before the Super Bowl.

Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell, D.C., apparently referenced Rep. George Santos, RN.Y.’s statements about drag queen stunts in Brazil in a tweet ahead of Super Bowl LVII.

“Does anyone have a setlist for George Santos’ Super Bowl halftime performance?” Swalwell wrote on Sunday.

The California Democrat cited previous reports that Santos acted as a drag queen named Kitara in Brazil. The claims first came to light in January after reporter Marisa Cabas shared a photo from 2009 that appeared to show Santos wearing a drag suit. The photo also features another drag queen, accompanied by a caption calling them “Eula Rorard” and “Kitara Ravash”.

Santos later denied these claims, calling them “categorically false”.

“The most recent media obsession that I am a drag queen or ‘acting’ as a drag queen is flat out false,” Santos tweeted. “The media keeps making outrageous claims about my life as I work to achieve results. It won’t distract me or bother me.”

Santos has been engulfed in controversy since being elected to Congress in November, when a former staff member accused the congressman on February 3 of sexual harassment and violating House ethics pay rules.

Derek Mayer, 30, tweeted that he filed an ethics complaint with the US Capitol Police and the Congressional Ethics Office after he was hired by Santos’ office in January. Meyers lasted only a couple of days in the congressman’s office.

Similarly, Santos has been the target of a number of attacks by members of the House of Representatives, including Swalwell. Swalwell tweeted in late December urging Santos to “prohibit congressional oath taking” days before the 118th Congress was due to be sworn in.
