Relatives of the victim again ask for help in the search for the shooter caught on camera

The video shows how car thieves are linked to the fatal Valentine’s Day shooting of a 36-year-old father of seven outside his Arlington home.

ARLINGTON, Texas. Jamal Ali again pleads with the public to help find his cousin’s killer. He and his family joined Arlington Police on Friday afternoon to ask people to let them know if they could help with the investigation.

“Family, we are still in shock, kids,” Ali said, “this is a nightmare.”

A suspected robber shot and killed Ali Ismail on February 14 when he returned home from work around 5 am.

Arlington police say they believe one of the people seen in the video they released is the shooter. The shooting occurred while his family was sleeping in their home on Prentice Street.

“They have six children and will soon have a seventh,” Ali said.

Ismail, 36, owned and operated his own trucking company. His family explained that they are still trying to figure out what happened, especially since he was so involved in his children’s lives. Ismail spent a lot of time at his children’s school, being with them in the classroom.

While investigating, police uncovered another security video showing a man checking for unlocked doors in vehicles several hours earlier that morning.

It is not clear if the two are related as the other incident took place about 2.5 miles from the Ismail area. But investigators consider the person caught on camera in another video to be a subject of interest.

A repeated call for help in the case from Ismail’s family and the police came after investigators had exhausted all good leads in the case. They are still urging people in the 1400 Prentice Street area of Arlington to check the CCTV footage of their homes. It is possible that the same suspects and defendants were recorded on other devices. Arlington detectives are specifically urging people to scan their video systems from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. Feb. 14.

Ismail’s family explained that bringing his killer to justice would not give them complete closure, but it would help them begin the process of healing from such a tragic loss.

“Just share with us any information you have to close this situation. It could be your son. It could be your father. It could be your husband, nephew, your relative,” Ali said.

During the second call for help in the Ali Ismail case, Arlington Police Department Assistant Chief of Police Tarrick McGuire announced a huge reward for the case. While they would like people with information to contact Detective Hall directly at 817-459-5325, anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can do so by calling Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS (8477). In any case, if your information leads to an arrest and conviction in a case, it will turn into a huge reward.

“Our community partners, Oak Farms Dairy, are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person involved in this case,” McGuire said.

The huge reward is another reason Ismail’s family is hoping someone will come forward with the only lead the police need to bring his killer to justice.
