Prosper ISD board president resigns after arrest on child abuse charge

Prosper, President of the Independent School District Board of Regents, has resigned. the day after the arrest on charges of indecent behavior with a child.

Drew Wilborn, 43, was elected to the board of Prosper ISD in 2021 and submitted his resignation on Thursday, effective immediately, the school district said in a letter to parents on Thursday evening.

This happened the day after his arrest on charges of indecent behavior of children. his time as a pastor at a Dallas church.

The district will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, January 31 at 6:00 pm to “determine the best course of action for replacing the vacant position,” the letter said.

“Neither the Prosper ISD board of trustees nor the district administration were aware of the allegations against Mr. Wilborn until noon on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, following his arrest,” the letter reads. “We feel the same shock as our community. The remaining members of the Board of Trustees want to reassure our community that we are determined to move forward together to restore the trust our community deserves. Our children deserve the best from us so that they can see the best in themselves.”

An Antioch Fellowship statement released Thursday said Wilborn was fired from his job last year after Dallas police first launched a lewd conduct investigation in April 2022.

Wilborn’s biography appears to have been removed from the school district’s website on Thursday.

NBC 5 was unable to reach Wilborn for comment Thursday. He was released from jail early Thursday morning after being held on $50,000 bail.

The district said it would provide more information if it could.
