Potential tornadoes, waterspouts, and even ‘gusts of wind’: A review of severe weather in North Texas on Thursday.

Footage from the Picton community in Hopkins County shows at least one tornado likely touched down in North Texas on Thursday.

PICTON, Texas. Along with a series of severe weather events caused by storms that swept across North Texas, footage of a possible tornado was filmed on Thursday in Hopkins County, located nearly 100 miles east of Dallas.

A tornado watcher named Jason Dalton reported seeing the funnel cloud at approximately 4:28 p.m. in Picton, a city in Hopkins County. A possible tornado damaged the roof of a home along State Highway 11 on FM 269. It also resulted in downed trees and power lines.

Additional meteorological events were also reported in North Texas Thursday evening.

The city of Weatherford, located in Parker County, nearly 30 miles west of Fort Worth, said in a Facebook post around 7 p.m. that a possible tornado had been sighted there that day. No casualties have been reported at this time.

“Residents are advised to watch for debris, faulty power lines, gas lines or electrical systems,” the city said. “Avoid the risk of fire or explosion.”

A possible tornado was also seen in Denton County in the city of Colony.
