Poodle reunited with owners after generous reward offered

A San Antonio couple expressed their profound gratitude after their beloved 8-year-old toy poodle, Teddy, was safely returned home on Thursday night following his reported disappearance the previous evening. Alexandra Villarreal, Teddy’s owner, conveyed her appreciation to a KENS 5 reporter for their assistance in reuniting them with their cherished pet, expressing, “We are so beyond grateful to you and to the station, thank you for being so wonderful and coming to our rescue. Please know you’ve made a huge difference in our lives today.”

The distressing ordeal began when Teddy went missing after escaping from the backyard of his home on the 300 block of Elmhurst Avenue near Broadway Road. Alexandra Villarreal and her partner, John Conover, frantically searched for Teddy in the neighborhood, their hearts heavy with worry and despair. A neighbor located Teddy a few doors down and posted about him on the Ring Door App, which led to a stranger offering to watch over Teddy while waiting for his owners to retrieve him. However, communication with the stranger became challenging as attempts to reach him proved futile.

The situation escalated when surveillance footage revealed a man in a white baseball cap driving a four-door black sedan taking Teddy from the neighbor who found him. Despite efforts to contact the man and retrieve Teddy, the owners faced obstacles in reconnecting with their beloved pet. The disheartened couple sought assistance from the San Antonio Police, who initiated an investigation into the incident, treating it as a theft. While the couple emphasized their desire to have Teddy returned safely without pursuing legal action, they offered a generous $3,000 reward for any information leading to Teddy’s safe return.

Describing Teddy as a vital part of their family, Alexandra Villarreal emphasized the urgency of his medical needs, particularly his requirement for medication to manage seizures that could prove fatal if left untreated. Teddy, a red/brown toy poodle weighing approximately five to six pounds, possesses a distinctive missing front tooth, making him easily identifiable. The couple implored anyone with information about Teddy’s whereabouts to come forward and reunite them with their cherished companion, offering the substantial reward with no questions asked.
