Police say eight people have been arrested in connection with a motorcycle race on a Dallas highway.

Eight people have been charged with participating in an illegal motorcycle race in Dallas.

The Dallas Police Task Force Street Racing arrested 8 people on Sunday at an office at 635 and Luna Road.

Mohammad Zebi, 22, Zayn Raza, 30, Robert Bruce, 30, Walat Cindy, 24, Francisco Perez-Suarez, 39, and Jonathan Hernandez, 25. were arrested on charges of highway racing.

Police say motorcyclists were seen speeding in northwest Dallas.

Fares Matar, 28, was arrested on a warrant for obstructing a highway, and Ahason Abdallah, 31, was arrested for watching races.

The arrests come after Gov. Abbott announced a crackdown on illegal “street occupations” last week.

For years, Dallas has struggled with similar street takeovers, but in 2020, the city passed an ordinance making it illegal to be a spectator at the races.

DPD says its numbers show the impact of the department’s crackdown.

In 2021, 831 spectators were arrested, and in 2022 their number dropped sharply to 112.
