Police say a minor was shot and killed while playing outside in a Fort Worth apartment complex.

Fort Worth, Texas. On Sunday, a minor was hospitalized after Fort Worth police said he was shot while playing outside at an apartment complex.

Police said officers responded to Cook Children’s Medical Center shortly before 5:45 p.m. regarding a minor who arrived in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound.

The victim, whose age is unknown, told police he was outside the Villas at Sierra Vista apartment on Las Vegas Trail when he heard the gunshot, police said.

The victim stated that he then discovered that he had been hit in the left calf. The police said that the victim did not see where the shot came from and who fired it.

The victim is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The officers arrived at the apartment complex to begin an investigation.
