Police say a driver was shot dead in a possible road rage incident following a crash in southeast Houston.

The man says he was shot for road rage after he was involved in an accident in southeast Houston on Saturday.

Officers were called to a house in the 6500 block of Avenue B around 6:48 p.m. in connection with the shooting, Bellaire police said.

The BPD says they found a 54-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg upon arrival.

The man told police he was driving south on IH-610 near the Furnas exit when he had a minor accident with another vehicle.

He told police that after the initial collision, another driver fired several shots at his car.

The victim was shot at and fled the scene. He went home, where he later called the police.

The suspected shooter was reportedly driving a white Dodge truck with an empty black trailer.

Beller’s Criminal Investigation Unit is investigating the case.

Several southbound lanes of IH-610 were closed on Saturday evening in an attempt to gather evidence at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bellaire Police Department at (713) 668.0487.
