Police: Authorities were not alerted when stabbed Nevada ‘revenge’ suspect moved to Dallas

Nika Nikubin told investigators at the time of her arrest that she stabbed a man to avenge the death of an Iranian leader who was killed in a US drone strike, police said.

LAS VEGAS. Texas authorities say they were not informed by Nevada law enforcement when a woman accused of stabbing a man in a Las Vegas area hotel room in an apparent act of revenge moved to Dallas.

Court records show Nika Nikubin, 22, has been under house arrest since at least June 2022 after posting bail and being released from a Las Vegas prison. She pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and battery in connection with the stabbing on March 5, 2022, at a casino hotel southeast of Las Vegas.

Nikubin told investigators at the time of her arrest that she stabbed a man she met on a dating app to avenge the death of an Iranian military leader who died in a US drone strike two years earlier, police said. The man survived.

A judge in Henderson, on the outskirts of Las Vegas, imposed a curfew on Nikubin and said she could only leave the house for work, counseling, medical checkups and school if she was released from prison. Nikubin moved to Dallas.

At a hearing in Clark County District Court on Monday, a police detective at the University of Texas at Dallas said Dallas law enforcement was not informed of the filing of a criminal case against Nicoubin in Nevada, KLAS-TV reported.

“This raised immediate concerns about the safety of the campus and the community,” Detective Rod Bishop said.

Judge Carly Kearney questioned whether Nikubin, an aspiring music singer, has been under proper supervision since she was released from prison in Las Vegas.

KLAS-TV reported that Nikubin, while under house arrest, left home to record music videos and perform.

Bishop said campus police only learned that Nikubin was under house arrest in Dallas when a reporter sought comment about community safety after Nikubin ordered a “singing event,” according to court records.

Nikubin’s lawyer, Alanna Bondi, asked a judge on Monday to release her client from house arrest, saying she had not violated any of the terms of her release from custody. Bondi also said that her performances are considered work, according to KLAS-TV.

Another custody hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
