Photographs from a wall breached in a North Texas mall where $2 million worth of jewelry was stolen.

The WFAA obtained photographs showing suspects punching a hole in the wall of an empty Sears store in the Mesquite Town East mall and breaking into a nearby American Jewelers store.

MESKITE, Texas. For the first time, we’re seeing photos of suspects breaking into a Mesquite mall and stealing over $2 million worth of jewelry.

Police say these suspects used sophisticated hacking tools. We also learn about the type of stolen jewelry.

The WFAA obtained photographs showing suspects punching a hole in the wall of an empty Sears store in the Mesquite Town East mall and breaking into a nearby American Jewelers store.

“American Jewelers is next to an empty Sears store. The suspects entered Sears illegally and broke through the drywall and concrete wall separating the two stores,” Officer Jolene Lopez of the Mesquite Police Department said.

Police say an employee walked into an American Jewelers store on Saturday morning and saw that $2 million worth of jewelry had been stolen from them.

The WFAA spoke to an American Jewelers employee on the phone. He confirms that Rolex watches and Cuban-style jewelry were stolen. Some items they lock every night, some they don’t. Obviously, after what happened on Saturday, everything has changed.

During the day, Mesquite’s detectives combed through surveillance footage from shopping malls, with suspects even ripping cameras from American jewelers.

“This area is getting dangerous,” said Tien Tran, owner of Instant Cash for Gold.

It’s getting dangerous because on Thursday about a mile from the mall Tran says it was robbed.

“They followed me after work. That night, I brought home some of my online stuff. My friend had a wedding party,” Tran said.

“I left here, went for gas, went for food, and then to the grocery store. When I parked, they broke into my car right in front of the briefcase,” Tran said.

Just yesterday, the Mesquite police took a security video of him to find out if there was any connection to the robbery of a jewelry store in the Mesquite mall.

“I watched the video, yes, I saw a white car following me,” Tran said.

While the police are constantly working on leads, Tran is calling on other store owners to do their part.

Tran said he was constantly watching

“Just be vigilant. That’s pretty much all you can do,” Tran said.
