Pennsylvania police officer arrested on suspicion of buying cocaine: ‘It’s extremely disappointing’

A police officer from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania was reportedly arrested over the weekend for allegedly trying to buy cocaine from an undercover informant in a neighboring county.

Justin Thomas Taylor, 28, was arrested by the Cumberland County Narcotics Squad for attempting to possess cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

According to the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office, Taylor is a member of the Harrisburg Police Department and was arrested as part of a drug operation by the Dauphin and Cumberland County Special Narcotics Squads.

Task Force members learned of Taylor on February 16 when they executed a search warrant in Cumberland County.

The officers discovered that the police officer may be a client of the person they were investigating the sale of illegal drugs.

On February 19, an informant told the task force that Taylor would show up at a certain time and place to buy cocaine.

As soon as Taylor got hold of the cocaine, he was arrested by the task force, according to the district attorney’s office.

“Every time we encounter an officer breaking the law, we are extremely disappointed,” said Cumberland County District Attorney Sean M. McCormack. “This is a complete betrayal on the part of the officer of the trust that the public had in him to uphold the law and not break it. Personally, I remember teaching this officer when he was new at the police academy. I always emphasize when I train new officers. , the importance of maintaining high ethical standards for oneself and other officers.”

Harrisburg City spokesman Matt Meisel said Taylor was suspended pending an investigation by the Dauphin and Cumberland County Narcotics Task Forces.
