Pennsylvania couple tragically drowns at Stuart Beach, leaving parents in shock

Larry and Susie Warter expressed their overwhelming sense of numbness on Friday, revealing that their lives have been completely upended following the tragic drowning incident involving their son, Brian Warter, 51, in a rip current off Stuart Beach. The devastation was compounded by the loss of Brian’s partner, Erica Wishart, 48, who also tragically perished in the same incident.

The grieving parents disclosed that the couple, who resided in Philadelphia, had been romantically involved for a year and a half and were vacationing with their combined six children from previous marriages. Among the children, two were Brian’s biological offspring, aged 22 and 20 respectively.

During an emotional interview with WPTV reporter Joel Lopez, Larry and Susie Warter shared that their grandchildren, who are currently under the care of relatives in Tampa, have been surprisingly resilient in coping with the heartbreaking loss. They particularly highlighted the strength and support provided by the grandchildren to each other, especially considering that one of them is on the autism spectrum and attends college, with the other sibling offering crucial assistance.

In a poignant moment, the Warters reminisced about their son’s qualities, describing Brian as a loving father, a Princeton University alum, and a talented soccer player. They fondly recalled the harmonious bond shared among the six children and how the family had recently reunited in Stuart back in February.
