Pennsylvania cop arrested on suspicion of buying cocaine

A police officer from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania was reportedly arrested over the weekend for trying to buy cocaine from an undercover informant in a neighboring county.

The Cumberland County Narcotics Task Force arrested 28-year-old Justin Thomas Taylor for attempting to possess cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Taylor, a police officer with the Harrisburg Police Department, was detained as part of a drug operation by the Dauphin and Cumberland Counties Narcotics Special Forces, according to a press statement from the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office.

Taylor was discovered by members of the task force on February 16 after a search was conducted in Cumberland County.

The seller gave a tip to the officer

The officers learned that the man they were looking for for selling illegal substances may have had a police officer as a buyer.

On February 19, an informant told the task force that Taylor would show up at a certain place and time to buy cocaine.

According to the district attorney, the task force apprehended Taylor after he took possession of the cocaine.

Cumberland County District Attorney Sean M. McCormack remarked, “Every time we come across an officer breaking the law, it’s very upsetting.” “The police officer completely deceived people’s belief that he would abide by the law and not break it. I remember briefing this guy when he just graduated from the police academy. When training new officers, I always stress the importance of maintaining the highest ethical standards for myself and others.”

According to Matt Meisel, spokesman for the City of Harrisburg, Taylor was suspended pending an investigation by the Dauphin and Cumberland County Narcotics Task Forces.
