Pedestrian killed in Rocky Point car crash, police say

Squad 7 Suffolk County Police detectives investigate a car accident that killed a pedestrian at Rocky Point on Monday, January 30, 2023.

Thomas O’Brien was driving a 2018 Subaru Forrester eastbound on Highway 25A, east of Rocky Point Road, when his vehicle hit a pedestrian crossing the road at 9:30 p.m.

The pedestrian, 21-year-old Sharif Murray of Rocky Point, died at the scene. O’Brien, 75, and his wife, Mildred O’Brien, 75, from Shoreham, were unharmed.

The vehicle was impounded for a security check. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact 7th Squad at 631-852-8752.
