Passenger killed in west Houston crash; Driver says they were arguing before he crashed into tree: HPD

HOUSTON — An investigation is underway after a female passenger died in a crash when the driver of the vehicle she was in crashed into a tree in West Houston on Thursday, Houston Police Department officers said.

It happened in the 9900 block of Richmond Avenue around 10:41 pm.

According to HPD, the driver was driving westbound on Richmond when he was arguing with a passenger and crashed into a tree.

Police said the woman died in hospital and the driver is expected to be fine.

It is not known whether drunkenness or speed was the cause of the accident, investigators said.

The incident is still under investigation.
