Pizza Hut returns a fan favorite after almost 25 year break.

Starting February 1, Big New Yorker will be back on menus nationwide for a limited time. Although sold out for a short time in 1999, the extra-large pizza quickly became a favorite and fans have been asking Pizza Hut to bring it back ever since.

Big New Yorker is really big: it’s a 16-inch pizza with six oversized fold-out slices. This is about 30% more than the large size pizza currently sold online.

Pizza Hut, in a press release, describes Big New Yorker as “New Yorker-inspired XL pizza that’s as big and bold as the city that never sleeps.”

The pizza is topped with marinara sauce, extra cheese and seasonings to “mimic a real New York pizzeria,” the chain said. Toppings include double pepperoni or other toppings of the customer’s choice starting at $13.99.

Since its disappearance over two decades ago, pizza has become a cult favorite on the internet. There is Petition on Change.org begging Pizza Hut to return it, which garnered nearly 4,000 signatures. “It was the only good pizza that Pizza Hut has ever offered,” pleads one signer. Another adds: “I need it for the soul.”

Pizza is a competitive space where customers often change their preferences based on offers and new menu items. Fast food chains discover that feel nostalgic also a winning formula as clients crave dating.

Yum Brands, which owns Pizza Hut, said during a recent investor day that the chain is in the process of upgrading to target younger consumers, including updating its app and selling more popular merchandise. This includes meltswhich are individual slices of pizza, similar to calzones, which have performed well in the circuit.

The next profit will be published on February 8th.
