The district attorney said the man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting at Conroe’s apartment, where his mother and four children were sleeping.

KONRO, Texas — The man who planned and executed the shooting at the Conroe apartment complex was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison, the Conroe County Attorney’s Office said.

Gregory Lamar Henderson, 32, was found guilty of being involved in the drive-by shooting at the Tall Timbers flats on December 21, 2021.

The prosecutor’s office said that that morning the bullets pierced the door of the apartment building where the mother and four of her children were sleeping. They also learned that Henderson had planned the attack after an earlier argument with the woman’s brother.

Security camera footage shows Henderson and another man driving up to the apartment in a maroon Lexus sedan, prosecutors said. Dozens of shots were fired from the car of the suspect, who sped away from the scene.

Evidence collected showed that Henderson was involved in the shooting, prosecutors said. A search of his sent and received cell phone messages revealed that he had planned the shooting long before the attack.

Henderson was found guilty by the jury.

During the punishment phase, they learned of Henderson’s criminal history, which includes a previous trip to jail for a separate shooting where the victim was shot five times in the back.

The judge sentenced Henderson to the maximum sentence permitted by Texas law, namely 20 years in prison in the Texas Department of Corrections. He will not be eligible for parole until he has served at least half of his sentence.
